Our civil department has grown substantially in the last 10 years. Its purpose is to deal with internal referrals from clients or previous clients, such as employment issues, difficulties with wills, or boundary disputes. Its other role is to provide these services to new clients. Importantly, at Robinsons, we still deal with the full range of general civil work, where available, on the basis of public funding.

Employment law continues to be a fast growing area – and one that is growing within our business. The rights available to employees and workers and the obligations on employers are constantly changing. Our civil team works closely with clients to ensure they are made aware of latest developments in areas such as: redundancy and business reorganisation; unfair dismissal; discrimination; and maternity, paternity and parental issues.

We also deal with inheritance claims, where individuals feel they’ve been short-changed by a will, as well as libel, slander, co-habitation and boundary disputes: in fact, when it comes to civil matters, there’s not much we haven’t dealt with – or wouldn’t do, providing we feel it would be of benefit to our clients.

Part of our success is that, where appropriate, we use tried and tested experts in specific fields, bringing together specialist teams that can call on many years experience to deal with cases. This expertise ensures a hands-on approach to all our cases, and a continuity of service that is sometimes lacking in other practices.

Another important area of our work relates to Professional Negligence. Whether an architect, surveyor, solicitor or indeed any other professional, if you do not feel you have received the service you deserved, we can advise whether a potential claim may be available to you to recoup any losses suffered. Generally, all professionals are insured against such claims.
