Martin Collings

MARTIN COLLINGS graduated in law in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia, as it then was) and prosecuted in the magistrates courts and then as State Counsel in the Criminal Division of the High Court and the Appeal Court, before emigrating to England in 1976, where he re-qualified in London as a solicitor.
Moving to Canterbury in 1980, he became the Litigation Partner at Lee, Bolton & Lee, leaving in 1987 to take up a commercial conveyancing position with Sharratts in Whitstable. He returned to Canterbury to set up Collings & Co on 8.8.88. As the firm expanded it gradually relinquished all court work, and concentrated on residential conveyancing, wills, probate and trusts, while Martin specialised in commercial conveyancing, property development, business leases, the sale and purchase of businesses, residential and nursing homes, and charity formations and support and mediation.
In January 2010 Collings & Co merged with Robinsons, and Martin took on the mantle of Partner in charge of Residential and Commercial Conveyancing.
In his spare time, Martin is a stalwart of St Mary Bredin Church, Canterbury, and wrestles with his golf clubs whenever he can; is a keen theatre-goer, loves most music and all drums, and follows Spurs and Canterbury Football Club provided they don’t clash with any rugby.
